This April The City of San Clemente officially adopted a Light Marine Helicopter Squadron, HMLA469, located at Camp Pendleton. Our very own San Clemente Stake Relief Society has the wonderful privilege of joining with the City of San Clemente, The Heritage of San Clemente Foundation, The Marine Monument @ Park Semper Fi, and The South Coast Marine Corps League in the Adoption of this amazing squadron of dedicated Marines.

On Saturday, July 20th, we were able to assist the City of San Clemente in hosting a Family Day BBQ for the newly adopted squadron where approximately 800 Marines, their families and residents of San Clemente came together to interact and celebrate.
This was a unique experience for all involved to tour the helicopter hanger, climb up and sit in the helicopters and learn from the brave Marines themselves about their various jobs!

After the hanger tour, a barbecue was held near lake O’Neil where families were able to enjoy a delicious meal, music, prizes, and games such as rock wall climbing and paintball. Volunteers from the San Clemente Stake participated by serving the food, supervising the bounce house, and other games, cleaning up and associating with the wonderful families of HMLA469.

We appreciate this opportunity and are especially grateful for Marines who fight for the freedoms we are so blessed to enjoy and feel privileged to have been part of such a special day.
